The Luddite's Prayer
(With apologies to Pastor Niemöller)
First they came for the textile workers, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a textile worker.
Then they came for the farmers, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a farmer.
Then they came for the auto makers, and I did not speak out—Because I was not an auto maker.
Then they came for the cashiers, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a cashier.
Then they came for the MBAs, and I did not speak out—Because I was on the run.
Next they’ll come for the cabbies and truck drivers—and there will no one left to speak for them because we’ll all be too busy scrounging for food.
