Should we open schools?

One of the big debates raging in the US is over the question of whether to open schools this fall. Noted charter school advocate Besty Devos suggests that some are trying to keep others captive in favor of their “fears or agendas.”

Laurie Garrett, a Pulitzer Prize, Polk, and Peabody Award-winning journalist does not agree with the Education Secretary’s approach. Ms. Garrett writes about science with a focus on communicable diseases and has done so for decades. I’ve long been a fan of her work. Her assessment of a one-size-fits-all approach to reopening schools was that it’s “nothing short of moral bankruptcy.” I’ll take her word.
