The WPC Book #2 Interviews

What do we do after the pandemic?

With the publication of Book #2 from the Wicked Problems Collaborative on the way, I’ve been sitting down with several of the book’s contributors for short conversations on their conversations, as well current events and issues that are core to their work. Those started with a discussion of non-market economy practices with Sam Bliss, which will go live later this week. The Twitter posts below have interesting audio clips from each of the four interviews that we’ve done so far.

FYI - I’ll be posting 1-2 per week between now and the book’s launch on July 4.

Next up was David Atkins (a two-time WPC contributor!) who shared a bit about his chapter on the escalating issue of monopolies in the time of the pandemic. We also talked about ongoing undemocratic efforts in the US, that threaten future elections.

Jacob Bacharach and I discussed his chapter which asks the reader to reimagine the place where they live towards a more humane and enjoyable existence. Jacob then unwound the Gordian Knot of the conflict in Gaza by placing it under a moral lens.

Kati Sipp discussed her chapter which helps readers envision a future in which the pandemic’s challenges helped us to rethink and rebuild communities and societies in ways that foster well-being. We also discussed Kati’s work on electoral politics, where she shared the story of a broad-based coalition that recently motivated voters to support a variety of issues and candidates, to great benefit for the community.

I have additional interviews scheduled with Russ Stoddard, Gawian Kripke, Suzy Waldman, and Jonathan Cohn over the next few weeks.
